Beginning Glass Beadmaking
The course teaches the art of melting glass rods to make your own unique beads. We go over safety, torch and studio set up, tools used, and basics of forming glass beads into different shapes. We also use frit, silver, and other techniques to enhance the bead surface. We'll learn to pull stringer, rake beads, and encase. Usually students go home with about a dozen beads.
Cost is $125, and includes all supplies. We begin at 10am and end around 4:30. If you are interested in attending one of the classes, just give me a call at (316) 265-0667. Spots fill fast! Looking forward to melting glass with you.
I am thrilled to announce Beadazzled will be hosting a class with Trey Cornette!! We are so lucky to get him. We'll have two 2-day classes offered on June 18-19 and June 20-21. The cost of one class is $425 and will include all glass, supplies, and lunch for both days. If you are not familiar with Trey's style, be sure to check out his website! You don't want to miss this class.

In this two-day class, we will explore some of the many possibilities with 104 COE glasses. Our canvas will be large scale tab and tube form beads upon which we will experiment with many types of decoration. I will demonstrate my methods for forming large beads, scrollwork application, millifiori floral canes, working with Reichenbach 108 (raku), and others. I will demonstrate some of the beads I make, the processes involved, and help you find your own patterns and styles using these methods. We will also learn how to pull our own raku cane from the large kilo rods furnace workers use. There will be plenty of time reserved specifically for individual exploration and instruction. Bring your questions and ideas as the class will evolve around them.
Lauri Copeland from Wildfire-Designs loves to teach in our studio, and we love having her here! She'll be teaching here April 18 and 19th. Cost is $240. Here is her class description:
Organics Unleashed -- Borosilicate Beads and Beyond Get ready for a high-energy class that will explore the unique properties of borosilicate glass. Beadmaking will be the primary focus while working with generous supplies from Glass Alchemy and Northstar. Color striking and flame atmosphere will be reviewed along with unique color blending and textural surface designs. Students will then work with sculptural and asymmetrical shapes using both on and off mandrel techniques. Projects will include organic forms found in nature, an amphora or wine stopper, encased buttons or pendants and more.
Advanced workshops are now being offered! At each workshop, we will focus on a different technique for our beads. Check back for updated class dates.
Twisties and Cane
9:00am - 12:00pm
$75
At this workshop, we will focus on making our own twisties and cane to be used for bead decoration. We'll make complex twisties, using opaque and transparent glass. We will also learn to make stamen and rose cane, which is often used with floral beads.
Florals
9:00 am - 12:00pm
$75
We will explore to process of floral designs on beads. Beginning with simple raised flowers, designing roses, to making beautiful encased plugged florals. I highly recommend the previous workshop on twisties and cane before attending the floral class, as the rose and stamen cane will be useful for floral designing.
Organics and Shards
9:00am - 12:00pm
$75
Oh, how I love organics! In this workshop, we will learn to blow our own shards and use them to decorate beads. It's such a fun process. We'll use silver and frit to achieve different effects. We'll discuss the use of 'silver' glass, and
why it's becoming so popular in the lampworking world.
If you have a suggestion for a workshop or a technique you'd like to advance your knowledge on, please let me know!
